Abridgment of the Preface:
It is a great challenge to write about events that are still unfolding. In this book, the challenge is applicable both to the Kairos Palestine initiative (its impact around the world, its role at home in Palestine) and to the nature of life under occupation.

Since the launch of Kairos Palestine in December 2009, the authors have received, and continue to receive, scores of responses from individuals and communities across the globe. Most are positive, and their solidarity is profoundly encouraging to us...

... The vision of “A Moment of Truth,” the Kairos Palestine Document, is a vision formed by the strength of communities, not by officials; it is a vision focused intently on the interests of the people without being appropriated by the interests of corrupt political leadership. It is a vision that raises the call of the Palestinian people, but it was not meant only for Palestine; indeed, the message of the Kairos is a universal one, and it is coming to life throughout the region...

... There are Jews, Christians and Muslims alike whose positions on the conflict in our region – whether they are outwardly dismissive of Palestinians’ right to equality and dignity, or whether they promote the kind of normalisation that perpetuates injustice rather than correcting it – only succeed in prolonging the bloodshed. As Kairos Palestine, we seek the solidarity of those who refuse to accept this cycle.

We share another vision, and we will share another reality.
